WORKSHOPS

Dahlia Popovits has been designing and weaving extraordinary clothes and accessories utilizing her award winning handwoven textiles made with finest yarns from around the world, for over 40 years. She is happy to be able to share her knowledge through her upcoming workshops.
Our location in SoWa’s Art & Design District gives us the ability to offer workshops to all levels of weavers. The classes we offer range from those for absolute beginners who may only want a one time experience and enjoy working with their hands, to experienced hand weavers who are interested in learning to use a very portable rigid heddle loom for self expression. We also offer one on one lessons on either rigid heddle looms or 4 harness looms. Home visits are also available in the metro Boston area if you cannot bring in your loom, but need help with dressing the loom, or just figuring out tension issues on the loom. Please call to make an appointment.
PLEASE BE SURE TO BOOK YOUR WORKSHOP EITHER BY REGISTERING BELOW OR CALLING THE GALLERY DIRECTLY AT 617-527-4456.
PRIVATE LESSONS
Private classes are available on an hourly basis and cover a wide array of subjects, including designing, making the warp, dressing a rigid heddle and 4 harness loom and an exploration of a variety of weave structures. Lessons are arranged directly with Dahlia.
Loom and Virtual Class Gift Package
One on one virtual classes are now available on a 15” Cricket rigid heddle loom. The loom is shipped to you from my studio, custom warped, with a scarf that I will design for you to weave based on colors of your choice.
Once you receive the loom, our first meeting will involve learning how to weave, terminology, and the methodology behind making wise yarn decisions.
After learning to weave and upon finishing your scarf, we will review choosing yarns for future projects and resources for weaving yarns. This includes calculating yarn needs and making smart decisions in order to achieve success and confidence in weaving.
The last meeting will address designing, making and warping the loom, so you will be able to make warps in the future by yourself, and know and understand the complete process from beginning to end.
The total cost of this package is $650, which includes an assembled and warped 15” Schacht Cricket loom, designer quality weft yarn to weave your scarf, 2 stick shuttles, 3 clamps, one peg, a booklet, and 2 skeins of worsted yarn.
