About the Event
Weaving Camp is designed to encourage preteens and teens, ages 8-16, to embrace fiber art through the craft of hand weaving.
We will be weaving on rigid heddle looms. Each day the student will weave on a different loom with varying color, pattern and texture combinations. The weavings will be removed from the looms on Thursday and assembled into a final project of the students’ choice. Friday will be a time to expand skills to spinning wool yarn and weaving on a potholder loom.
Students will leave at the end of the week with an understanding of the weaving process, how color is used for various effects, a greater knowledge of yarn types, and most importantly, an enthusiasm for the process of creating and completing a tangible piece of art that is uniquely theirs.
The cost of the class includes all materials.
Please send a snack and a drink for the student.
Small and intimate, the maximum class registration is 6. Classes are held at Dahlia Gallery, in Boston's Art and Design district in the South End.
