About the Event
This 5 day workshop is designed to give students a thorough and intensive grounding in hand weaving on a rigid heddle loom. Students will learn foundational weaving skills such as direct warping, loom set up, and basic weaving techniques and patterns, some of which will include tapestry, clasp, weaving with repurposed fabric strips, and other techniques if time allows.
Dahlia will guide you towards the understanding and use of proper yarns in weaving, while always maintaining the goal of creating professionally made woven items. Each day we will meet from 9 to 12.. Each student is encouraged to stay in the afternoon, during studio time, to move forward with your weaving.
The aim of this class is to learn to make decisions which will lead to success and encourage developing your own distinctive voice as a weaver. All materials will be provided, which will include luxury yarns from around the world. Absolutely no experience is necessary. Throughout the week, we will design and create projects such as infinity scarves, tapestries, table runners, and tote bags. Please contact Dahlia at 617 527 4456 or dahlia-handwoven@earthlink.net with any questions.
Small bites and beverages will be served daily.
